Eight boys have gained the highest ever A-level results at their school and now aspire to be the first from Cutler Boys Grammar School, to be considered ‘Oxbridge’ material.
Helping them fulfil this goal are two of their regular teachers, Mrs. Lintott, the feminist no-nonsense History teacher, and Hector, the General Studies teacher who runs his seemingly unstructured classes more like theatrical productions.
The Headmaster, wishing to ensure his league table place improves, by getting the boys into Oxford or Cambridge, believes they require extra coaching to give them an edge.
Enter Irwin, the final piece of the jigsaw. This funny, sad, thoughtful play is about relationships, fate, the different perceptions of education, and ‘passing on’ knowledge into the future.
